Car Insurance Oldsmobile (Car Insurance). Is my car battery the cause of my engine bogging out?Is my car battery the cause of my engine bogging out? I have a 97 honda civic hatchback and i have a little problem. I took my car to auto zone today because my check engine light is on. The code they gave me pretty much said that the o2 sensor and I have CAN be bad but the guy I got the car from said the o2 sensor is brand new and that it is my exhaust that's making the check engine light go off. He said "no big deal." I was doing research on google and i heard disconnecting your battery for 5 minutes resets the 'check engine light' so i did so. Keep in mind that my battery is pretty new. After reconnecting the battery, my engine seemed to be bogging out like there were almost air pockets in something. My car was running perfectly fine before I disconnected my battery. My question is, is my car ok to drive and will the battery end up charging back up making the engine run fine again? Any idea on what it can be and how to fix it? Disconnecting the battery reset all your run perimeters for the sensors. It will take time to get the ecm to operate like it did before. your battery should not be causing your engine to bog out. There is another problem, I would recommend taking it to a shop and getting it checked out. Auto parts : Replacement Step Pad Clip Acura 1995 . Retaining Ring Alfa Romeo 1996 . We figured it was our starting motor, but when we took it out and asked Autozone, they said there was nothing wrong with it at all. The problem is that when we try and turn it on, all we hear is a click and then everything shuts down. We tried to jump start it to see if it was the battery, but it still wouldn't start. My brother said that the battery could be too small [he's no mechanic though] to jump start the caravan [the car we were trying to jump it with is a Kia Rio 2008]. Basically, it's not starting. We've tried to jump start it and it won't work. This happened a little over a month ago, but one day when we decided just to turn it back on, it worked. We didn't touch anything and we didn't move anything. Now, the problem is back and we just don't know what it could be. Any and all help will be appreciated. car insurance. Oldsmobile . How to Change the Oil in a 2003 MustangChanging the oil in a 2003 Mustang is a simple process. Maintaining clean oil is an important part of keeping your Mustang's engine running well. Ignore the oil and you will have problems down the road. Changing the oil in your car can be a messy job, but there are a few tips to make the process run smoother and keep the mess to a minimum. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Front end ramps five-quart oil drip pan 5/16-inch wrench Oil filter wrench 2003 Mustang oil filter Funnel 4 quarts of 5W30 engine oil Step by Step : 1 Run your 2003 Mustang for five minutes to warm up the oil. Warm oil runs better, and will help to drain more sludge out. 2 Drive the Mustang up on the front-end ramps and wait 15 minutes for the oil to cool enough so you won't get burned when you drain it. 3 Push the hood latch release button under the dashboard, on the driver's side. Open the hood, prop it open and loosen the oil cap. 4 Look for the oil drain plug and place a five-quart oil drip pan directly under the plug. Using a 5/16-inch wrench, remove the plug. The oil will drain into the pan. 5 Wipe excess oil from the bottom of the car with a clean towel after the oil is done draining. Replace the drain plug. 6 Place the drip pan under the oil filter. The filter is located on the passenger side, above the stabilizer bar. 7 Loosen the filter with the oil-filter wrench, then spin the filter off with your hand. Check the inside of the filter to be sure the seal came off with the filter. If it is still on the car, remove it because a new seal comes with the new filter. 8 Place a little oil on the seal on the new filter, and twist it into place using your hand. It should be tight, but not too tight. Over tightening can cause problems later. 9 Locate the cap marked "Oil" in the Mustang's engine compartment. Take off the cap and place a funnel in the hole. Step by Step : 10 Pour one quart of oil in, and when it is done, pour the next quart of oil in. Repeat this with four quarts of oil. Step by Step : 11 Drive the Mustang in reverse off the ramps. Turn the car off and check the oil level using the dipstick found to the right of the engine. If the dipstick indicates more oil is needed, then put in another half quart to quart of oil, to bring the level to where it should be on the dipstick. Tips & Warnings Place newspapers under the car to keep mess off the floor. The oil may still be warm to hot as it drips out of the car.
Oldsmobile . How to Change the Oil on a 2006 GSX-R 600Changing oil on a motorcycle is not particularly challenging, but you will need a few basic tools and a willingness to get dirty. Change the oil on your GSX-R 600 every 3,500 miles, using a motorcycle-grade 10W40 oil. Replace the oil filter with every third oil change. Check the oil level on a daily basis. It's easy to do using the inspection window, and maintaining the correct oil level is the best way to extend engine life and minimize the need for repairs. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Suzuki 10W40 motorcycle engine oil Oil filter 3-qt. drain pan Oil filter wrench Allen wrench Torque wrench Permanent marker Step by Step : 1 Start the engine with the bike on its side stand and let it idle for a few minutes to warm the oil. Let the bike sit for three minutes. You want the oil to be warm enough to flow easily, but not hot enough to be dangerous. 2 Remove the oil filler cap. 3 Place a drain pan under the drain plug, remove the plug and let the oil drain. Draining all of the oil can take up to 20 minutes. Be sure that your drain pan will hold three quarts of oil. 4A torque wrench helps you avoid over-tightening the oil drain plug.torque wrench in box image by Christopher Dodge from Fotolia.com Replace the drain plug and use a torque wrench to tighten it to 16.5 lb-ft. 5 Remove the left-side fairing; you can start while the oil is draining. You will have to remove three Allen bolts and four plastic push clips. One Allen bolt is at the front of the fairing, one is at the top near the gas tank and one is at the bottom-rear. The push clips hold the lower, forward section of the fairing in place. 6A strap-style oil filter wrench adjusts to almost any size oil filter.tools image by CraterValley Photo from Fotolia.com Remove the oil filter using either a cap wrench (available at your Suzuki dealer) or a strap-style oil filter wrench, which you can pick up at any auto parts store. 7 Wipe the mounting surface where the new oil filter will be seated, using a clean, dry rag. 8 Spread a light film of oil on the gasket of the new oil filter, then screw the new filter in by hand until you meet resistance. You want to stop as soon as the oil filter contacts the mounting surface. 9 Mark the top center of the oil filter with a permanent marker, then turn the oil filter two complete turns with an oil filter wrench. Step by Step : 10 Check that the drain plug is in place, and then use a funnel to pour 2.6 quarts of engine oil into the oil filler. Replace the oil filler cap. Step by Step : 11 Reattach the fairing. Step by Step : 12 Start the engine and let it idle for three or four minutes. Turn the engine off and let it cool for two minutes before checking the oil level through the inspection window. Ensure that the oil level is between the "L" (low) and "F" (full). The intake stroke Compression stroke -Exhaust valve Ignition stroke Exhaust stroke When it came to designing diesel cars, the problem was even more pressing: how to change a car with a reputation of being noisy, underpowered, and smoky into a faster, quieter, more efficient vehicle that could meet the EPA requirements. The results have been heartening indeed. A turbocharger can increase the power on a diesel car by 50 percent while lowering its fuel consumption by 20 to 25 percent! And, what's more, because the turbine itself is powered by the hot gases that normally would go out of the exhaust pipe, you don't need to provide anything extra to drive it. What a wonderful example of recycling! Oldsmobile . What is the best website to sell a car?
Volkswagen Tiguan. * .Chapter 6: The Fuel System: The Heart and Lungs of Your Car The nitty-gritty on turbocharging If you just can't get enough of this turbocharging stuff, the following gets a bit more specific about how turbocharging works: 1. The hot exhaust gases leave the exhaust manifold in much the same manner as they usually do. But instead of going directly through the exhaust system and out of the car via the tailpipe, they first pass through a turbine, which is nothing but a fan that's set in motion by the velocity of the passing gases. 2. A shaft connects the fan to a compressor, which blows fresh, filtered air into the cylinders. (On a gasoline-powered car, it takes the fuel/air mixture supplied by the carburetor and blows it into the cylinders.) Oldsmobile . 2008 avalanche holds how many gallons of gas?

The excess and used exhaust fumes pass from the turbine to the exhaust system and continue on their way to the tailpipe and out into the air in their usual manner. 4. The more load on the engine, the hotter and faster are the exhaust fumes that turn the turbine. The faster they turn it, the more air the compressor sends to the engine and the faster the engine can go. This unique way of converting exhaust gas energy into mechanical power has a nice merry-goround effect. Sounds simple, doesn't it? Well, usually the first thing an engineer learns is "The simpler, the better," or, as the Zen monks put it, "Less is more." (Ecology, engineering, and philosophy all in a couple of paragraphs! Maybe I ought to change the name of this book to Zen and the Art of Auto Maintenance.) Don't confuse turbocharging with supercharging. A supercharger is a pump that compresses the fuel/air mixture and forces it into the cylinders of a gasoline-powered car: Because superchargers are usually belt-driven by the engine instead of by exhaust gases, they use engine power to increase engine power. Because they're not fuel efficient, they generally are used only to increase the speed of "high-performance," low-efficiency vehicles. Turbocharging kits are available that you can install on conventional vehicles to increase their power and performance. However, because turbocharging places considerable stress on engines that weren't designed with turbocharging in mind, you run the risk of damaging your engine and voiding all existing warranties if you decide to boost Old Faithful with a turbo kit. So investigate the situation carefully before you go this route. Some owners have had marvelous success, and their engines have lived to tell the tale; others haven't been as lucky. Generally speaking, I would never attempt to turbocharge the original engine of an older car, nor would I tinker with anything but a ruggedly built engine in top condition. If Old Faithful is beginning to show the strain of passing years, it would be wiser to recycle the old workhorse and buy yourself a turbo-powered filly! Part II: What Makes It Go? Oldsmobile .
